British medical imaging company Scan.com has raised $220 million from investors including Aviva as it prepares for a major expansion in the United States and considers a possible stock market listing.
The London-based company said the new funding includes a $90 million equity round led by French investment firm Noteus Partners, with participation from Aviva and Concord Health Partners. A further $130 million has been secured through debt facilities from VerisFi Capital and Atempo Growth.
Scan.com already earns most of its revenue in the US, where around 80% of its employees are based. The company plans to use the fresh capital to expand its presence in the American medical imaging market, which is estimated to be worth more than $100 billion.
Chief executive and co-founder Charlie Bullock said the US performs about 600 million medical imaging scans each year but lacks a nationwide infrastructure network connecting imaging providers. He said Scan.com had built a platform designed to address that gap and described the company’s current market share as less than 1%.
“Our ambition is to be the leading, biggest diagnostic imaging company in the US,” Bullock said, adding that the business still had substantial room to grow.
The latest fundraising comes as Scan.com prepares to meet representatives of the London Stock Exchange this week as it explores options for a potential initial public offering. Bullock said no final decision had been made about where the company would list.
Despite its focus on the American market, Scan.com intends to keep its headquarters in Britain.
The company’s fundraising comes amid continuing concerns about the ability of UK capital markets to retain rapidly growing technology and healthcare businesses. British start-ups raised a record $17 billion during the first half of 2026, although domestic investors accounted for only 16% of large funding rounds.
Aviva Investors venture capital director Ant Barker said Scan.com was among the fastest-growing companies in its portfolio and could generate long-term returns for UK pension savers and institutional investors.
Scan.com was founded in 2021 by Bullock, Oliver Knight, Joe Daniels, Jasper Nissim and Khalid Latief. The founders identified problems including limited access to diagnostic scans, unclear pricing and long waiting times.
The company operates an online platform that allows patients and healthcare providers to book scans, manage referrals and share results. Its model makes use of unused capacity at private imaging centres and hospitals.
Scan.com generated $85 million in revenue last year and had previously raised more than $57 million through two funding rounds. Aviva’s venture arm also co-led its earlier $12 million Series A investment.
The latest financing gives Scan.com significantly more capital as it seeks to expand its American operations while keeping open the possibility of becoming a publicly traded company.
