The Co-operative Bank has unveiled a new £10,000 prize draw for its Charity and Community Account customers, celebrating ten consecutive years as the UK’s Best Charity Banking Provider, as recognised by Business Moneyfacts.

The initiative is open to new and existing customers who hold at least £5,000 in an eligible account before 31 July 2025. One organisation will win the £10,000 cash prize, with an extra entry granted to those who have banked with the Co-operative Bank for ten years or more.

The prize draw is exclusive to customers of the Charity and Community Account, previously known as the Community DirectPlus Account. The account provides free everyday banking services to charities, community interest companies (CICs), co-operatives, and credit unions.

James Wall, Head of Charity Banking at The Co-operative Bank, said the initiative underlines the Bank’s commitment to supporting organisations with social impact.

“As the original ethical bank, we’re experts in supporting charities, co-operatives and social enterprises to make a difference in their communities,” he said. “This is a fantastic time to make the switch to The Co-operative Bank and be in with a chance of winning an incredible £10,000.”

The account offers a wide range of features tailored to not-for-profit organisations, including no monthly fees, discounted merchant services, integration with accounting software, free access to Go Get Paid tools, and 50% off subscriptions to sustainability platform Zellar.

For smaller organisations not eligible for the main prize draw, the Co-operative Bank continues to offer support through its Customer Donation Fund. To date, the fund has awarded over £1.2 million in grants of up to £1,000 to more than 1,300 community groups across the UK.

The Bank’s long-standing relationships with customers in the sector have drawn praise from organisations such as the Coniston Co-operative Society.

“We’re proud to bank with The Co-operative Bank – they really understand us as an organisation,” said Chair Chas Sargeant. Office Manager Fiona Ebbs added: “With the opportunity to win such a huge sum of money, there’s even more reason for socially and environmentally conscious organisations like us to bank with them.”

The Co-operative Bank continues to position itself as a leader in ethical banking, with tailored services designed to meet the needs of mission-driven organisations.
