Sky Media has announced the return of its Sky Zero Footprint Fund in 2025, with an enhanced format aimed at driving meaningful environmental change through advertising. After a one-year hiatus to refine the initiative, the fund will once again offer £2 million in media support to sustainability-focused brands and organisations, bringing its total investment to £8 million since launching in 2021.
New Fund Structure to Reach More Organisations
For 2025, the Sky Zero Footprint Fund introduces a three-category structure to accommodate a wider range of applicants:
- Disruptors – Supporting challenger brands with innovative ideas that need help scaling up.
- Catalysts – Dedicated funding for charities and non-profits, enabling them to amplify their impact despite limited resources.
- Champions – Encouraging established brands to lead national sustainability conversations and drive environmental action.
Sky Media’s Director of Planning, Sarah Jones, highlighted the expanded reach of the initiative, stating, “Our goal is to put sustainability front-and-centre for a wider range of brands, from groundbreaking startups to household names, and empower them to take bold steps towards a more sustainable future.”
The 2025 program will also feature a panel of expert judges from sustainability, advertising, and media sectors, evaluating applications based on their potential to create tangible environmental impact.
Proven Success in Driving Sustainability Awareness
Previous winners have demonstrated the fund’s ability to boost sustainability-focused businesses. In 2023, Grub Club secured the Grand Prix prize for its insect-based pet food, a sustainable alternative to traditional pet diets. Co-founder Alessandro Di Trapani described the fund as a “game-changer”, crediting it for helping the brand secure national distribution and major retail partnerships.
“Winning the Sky Zero Footprint Fund gave us unparalleled exposure, putting Grub Club in front of millions of pet owners across the UK. More than just visibility, it helped us refine our messaging, film our first TV ad, and secure key retail deals that will accelerate our mission to make pet food more sustainable.”
